Third National seminar On Respiratory medicine(COPD)
Third national seminar was conducted on February 10th, 2013 at Government Homeopathic Medical College, Bangalore, from 9 am to 5 pm
- The seminar was supported by National Rural Health Mission, Department of AYUSH and conducted by SOUKYA Foundation.
- Shri Srikantiah, IFS, Director, Department of AYUSH, Government of Karnataka, was the Chief Guest. Shri Srikantiah spoke about the work AYUSH can do in the health sector. He told that government would give support for any research work that homeopathic doctors would undertake.
- Dr Rudresh, President, Karnataka Homeopathy Board, was the Guest of Honour. Dr Rudresh talked about the prospects of homeopathy and how it is a very cost effective for common man.
- Dr Peter Fisher, Clinical Director, The Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, London, Dr Sundeep Salvi, Director, Chest Research Foundation, Dr S Gopinadhan, Scientist 4, CRIH, Kottayam were present on the occasion.
- Dr Issac Mathai, CMD & Medical Director, SOUKYA Group of Institutions encouraged the students and internees of GHMC to participate in the seminar and gain knowledge from the dignitaries. Dr Mathai talked about various work being done by SOUKYA Foundation and the Institute that is being conceptualized.
- Dr Sudha, Director, SOUKYA Group of Institutions, gave a brief about the Online Research Methodology Course.
- Dr Peter Fisher, Dr Sundeep Salvi, and Dr Gopinadhan launched the Online Research Methodology Course by handing over the first module to the first doctor who registered for the course, Dr Prabhath A from Palakkad, Kerala.
- Dr Peter Fisher, Clinical Director, The Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, talked about Global research in Homeopathy. Dr Peter Fisher showed the trials which were conducted on animal using homeopathic medicine and also about the post surgery trials. He explained about in-vitro evidence of effect of ultra-molecular dilutions.
- Dr Sundeep Salvi, Director, Chest Research Foundation, talked about The growing epidemic of COPD: Opportunities and Challenges for Homeopathy. Dr Salvi said that 51% patients of the whole patients are being seen by AYUSH doctors and that 51% of patients who visit doctors in a day are with respiratory diseases. Dr Salvi talked in elaboration about the causes and effect of COPD. He said that biomass gas was the main causative factor for COPD in India. He told that Modern medicine was not very successful in treating COPD cases and showed areas where homeopathy can help the patients.
- Dr Vishpala Parthasarathy, Senior Homeopathic Physician, Mumbai, talked about Application of Homeopathy in COPD. Dr Vishpala gave an overview of airway obstructon disorder and discussed two cases. She also talked about Magnesium as a remedy.
- Dr S Gopinadhan, Scientist 4, CRIH, Kottayam, talked about Homeopathic approach and research in COPD by CCRH. Dr Gopinadhan talked about COPD burden and discussed various homeopathic medicines for COPD. He also talked about case analysis of COPD.
- Dr B V Murali Mohan, Consulting Physician and Pulmonologist, Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospitals, talked about Approach to COPD in Modern medicine. Dr Murali Mohan started his talk with the 1st aphorism of The Organon of Medicine that the “Physician’s highest mission is to cure”. He talked about how to diagnose COPD and differentiate it from asthma. He talked modern medicine treatment aspects of COPD.
- Dr Munir Ahmed, Director, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, spoke about the Online Research Methodology Course. Dr Munir defined research and talked about how it helps in validation and also principles of research methodology.
- Dr Sudha, Director, SOUKYA Group of Institutions, talked about the Work of Centre of Excellence in Homeopathy for Respiratory Diseases.
- About 150 Delegates from all over India attended the Workshop and training.
