SOUKYA Foundation Charitable Trust was recognized as a Centre of Excellence in Homeopathy for Respiratory Diseases in the year 2009.
Smt Jalaja, IAS, then Secretary, Department of AYUSH, Mr. Anand, IAS, then Joint Secretary, Department of AYUSH, Government of India inaugurated the soft launch on 14th May 2009. The official opening was on 14th, June 2009 by the Honourable Governor of Karnataka, Shri. Rameshwar Thakur in the presence of Dr. R M. Varma and Dr. Kim Jobst (UK) and Dr. Annamma Mathai.
Significant work on Respiratory conditions by Centre of Excellence in Homeopathy for Respiratory Diseases
- Since 2009 to date the total number of patients treated are approximately about 1,50,000.
- From January 2020 to December 2020, we have consulted nearly 8000 patients have distributed nearly 1000 packets of immunity boosting kits.
- Centre of Excellence has a state of the art Respiratory Laboratory and Spirometry/DLCO.
- The team underwent several training sessions with the Chest Research Foundation, Pune and Central Research Council of Homeopathy both on Spirometry and DLCO and Research work. The team also created awareness on this investigation in their workshop and training with all the Homeopathy Doctors.
- Inter-disciplinary referrals. Pulmonologists, Internal medicine Specialists, Ear Nose Throat specialists have been referring cases and we have taken their support where we needed.
- One clinic of the Centre of Excellence is functional at a school for under-privileged, Christel House at Bengaluru. Our special work on the immunity of children for preventive cold and cough was done and published.
- Rural population work done with school health and Anganwadi children on cold and cough. A study on respiratory conditions and the Homeopathic medicines is going on.
- Special work done for Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation workers prone to respiratory conditions.
- A state of art library at the Centre of Excellence and a Website on the activities of the Centre of Excellence was launched at the Second National Seminar.
- Training of Homeopathic doctors at the International and National levels has been conducted
- Online course on Orientation to Research Methodology was conducted with 35 students in collaboration with the Chest Research Foundation and with the technical support of the Central Council of Research in Homeopathy, New Delhi.
- Panel discussion on Homeopathy was held on 15.11.2013 during the International Conference of Global Health Futures. Three National Seminars on respiratory Medicine were held.
- About 25 workshops, discussions and talks have been conducted. Several camps and awareness programmes have also been conducted.

- COE has a 30-bedded in-patient facility at its centre in Jayanagar, Bengaluru.
- An average of 38 - 40 patients were admitted, evaluated and treated every month.

- Mobile Clinic: Four villages around 25 Kms from Bengaluru have been adopted – Doddanallala, Doddadevahalli, Ummulu and Chikkanallala. All these villages are in Doddanallala Panchayat in Hoskote Taluk. Efforts have been initiated to visit the village every 10 days for 4 years.
- Dr Mathai’s Rural Holistic Medical Centre (DMRC) situated in a Primary Health Centre provides health and community work through AYUSH Systems reaching out to a population of 26500 in 38 villages.
- Since June 2008 the Holistic Homeopathy Clinic – Shishu Mandir School, covers the villages Seegehalli, Butterahalli, Kithaganur, Medahalli, Jyothi Nagar, Anandapura, Parvathy Nagar and Janata Colony.

- Dr. Mathai’s Holistic Homoeopathy Clinic, Christel House, Bengaluru. This clinic has been functioning since January 2007. Christel House is a school for under privileged children and is run on international standards.
- Dr. Mathai’s Holistic Homoeopathy Clinic, Shishu Mandir, Bengaluru, has been functioning since July 2008. Shishu Mandir is a school for underprivileged.

A unit of Dr. Mathai’s Holistic Clinic is functioning at the Government Homeopathic Medical College and attending to the out-patients in their OPD and conducting Lung Function Tests whenever necessary.
Respiratory Lab:
A well equipped laboratory for performing blood tests, Lung function tests and total lung capacity is functional as part of the Centre of Excellence.
Spirometry
Spirometry is the most common of the Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), measuring lung function, specifically the measurement of the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled. Till date about 2000 spirometry reports have been generated for clinical study with 4 spirometers.
Lung Diffusion Capacity Testing
DLCO helps to know how effectively gases are exchanged between the blood and airways in the lungs.

- Centre of Excellence: SOUKYA Foundation has set up Centre of Excellence in Homeopathy for Respiratory Diseases with Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Department of AYUSH.
- AYUSH Grama: Government of Karnataka extended its support to Dr Mathai’s Rural Holistic Health Centre in the form of AYUSH Grama where a whole Panchayat is under the care of AYUSH systems of medicine and healthy way of living.
